The 4th contestant in the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant (MPIP) PNG was announced today in Port Moresby.
She is Miss Garamut Enterprises, Shamila Paliwa.
Tomorrow, Shamila and the other contestants will participate in the fashion show; Project Runway.
MPIP Project Runway will be held on Saturday 31 October to give talented local designers the opportunity to showcase their work on PNG models, the MPIP PNG contestants.
The designers have been invited to create two designs – Traditionally-inspired outfit, and a Sarong.
The winning designs will be worn by the PNG contestant at the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant in Rarotonga, Cook Islands.
The winning designer will also receive prize money and will accompany the MPIP PNG contestant to the Cook Islands.
The MPIP PNG raises funds for a scholarship fund which assists girls to complete or continue their education in tertiary institutions throughout the country every year.
In the last four years, the MPIP PNG has raised over K400,000 for its scholarship fund and assisted 110 young girls from around PNG to complete their education.
