Church-run organisation, Anglicare PNG, today received K50,000 from oil and gas company, InterOil.
The K50,000 is part of InterOil’s support of non-government organisations (NGOs), and is aimed at improving health service delivery system for the company’s main operations area in the Gulf Province and other areas in the country.
Anglicare’s national director, Heni Meke, received the funds while stating that the donation will have a huge impact on the work of Anglicare in the country.
While Anglicare has been the front-line advocators against HIV/AIDs, the organisation has seen little support from the national government. However, the timely donation from InterOil will go a long way in the organisation’s awareness and fight against HIV and sexually transmitted infections.
InterOil’s Executive Vice President, Isikeli Taureka, said the oil and gas company will continue to assist NGOs that have a good community outreach program like that of Anglicare.
