Angau Marks Midwives Day

It has been a significant event every year for midwives, celebrating the important roles they play during infant deliveries.

This year the celebration was all about changing the world, one family at a time.

A tent was set up outside the hospital with antenatal staff providing free checkups for pregnant women.

Despite the celebrations today the ANGAU Memorial Hospital still faces ongoing problems with shortages in midwives and bed facilities at its’ labour ward.

EMTV has also received a good number of complaints from the public in regard to the facility shortages.

With the increase in population in the city, the number of pregnant women coming to the hospital has exceeded the number of midwives available to assist.

With the government and the hospital’s management main focus is on the redevelopment of ANGAU, areas like the antenatal and the postnatal sections of the labour ward have received little or no attention.
