Amaiu Presented New Bus to NCD Health Services

National Capital District Health Services has reported that 60 % of the mothers have not been attendant to by a midwife, HEO or doctor last year.

NCD Health Advisor Gary O’ou said the call for health services has to be delivered right to the people’s doorsteps.

He made these remarks when receiving a new bus from the Member for Port Moresby Northeast, Labi Amaiu.

Port Moresby Northeast Electorate has a population of 100, 000 people.

Most of the key government institutions are located within its vicinity, such as the Port Moresby General Hospital.

But delivery of adequate health services to the people has been an issue.

Last year, NCD Health Services reported that 60% of mothers were left unattended by midwives, HEO’s and doctors.

Port Moresby also reported the highest rate of TB cases.

NCD Health Advisor Gary O’ou said the health services must be delivered right down to people’s doorsteps to address this issue.

NCD Health Services is dependent on transportation for effective delivery of health services, and the bus will boost its operation.

It was purchased using the health component of the North East DSIP funds.

This brings to five, the total number of vehicles for NCD Health Services.

NCD Health Services is poised for change this year, with a commitment of K25 000 from the office of the local member, Labi Amaiu.

It will be used to rehabilitate health facilities within the Port Moresby Northeast Electorate.

Awareness programs on reproductive health and Immunization will be some of NCD’s Health priority programs this year.
