Although Air Niugini’s infamous delays remain a common occurrence, Travel Weekly, who was present at the expo, reported Air Niugini’s improved time performance which has risen from 40 per cent to 85 per cent.
As well as this, the airline plans to increase codeshare services to incorporate Air France and KLM, whilst further looking into a codeshare agreement with Qatar Airways.
Mr Foo also mentioned the increased Australia services, including an investment in direct flights from Cairns to Rabaul and Pacific destinations such as Vanuatu and Fiji.
The Lukim PNG expo is organised annually to promote PNG’s local tourism operators; a timely event in light of PNG’s increasing development and booming economy.
The event is organised jointly by the PNG Tourism Industry Association and the PNG Tourism Promotion Authority.
