Agiru Praises O’Neill for AROB Visit

Hela Governor Anderson Agiru praised Prime Minister Peter O’Neill for his humility and courage in apologizing for the death and destruction wrought upon the island province of the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) during the decade long crisis.

Agiru said it was high time that both sides embraced each other in the true spirit of Melanesian forgiveness and reconciliation.

He said such a spirit was evident in the manner in which the PM and President, John Momis embraced and broke spears in a symbolic gesture of peace and reconciliation.

Governor Agiru added that Bougainvilleans must likewise have the conviction and humility to say sorry as well.”

Governor Agiru said people must leave the past behind and forge a new way forward in the spirit of peace and unity through humble and contrite hearts and through sharing and caring.

“Bougainville can rise up from the dust and shine again in the bath of the rising sun,” Mr Agiru said.
