As final selection nears for the players, training is becoming their absolute priority. With 45 men and 35 women in the train-on squads, the teams are only a few days away from the announcement of the final teams, which should have 30 women and 30 men.
As part of the selection process, players are required to have all their travel documents ready. Senior Operations Manager and Coach, Rex Leka, said the aim is to create the best team possible, in order to win back to back international cup titles.
As the Papua New Guinea Mosquitoes prepare for their sixth international title as defending champions, the Women’s teams, Flames, are also looking forward to their second participation since 2011. Once the final teams are announced, they will travel with the officials at the end of this month. The teams will play a couple of test matches at Gold Coast before traveling to Melbourne.
The announcement of the final teams is expected to occur next week.
