Activist Anjo Seeks Legal Action Over Suspended Forum

NON-GOVERNMENT Organisation Activist, Noel Anjo has announced that a planned forum scheduled for this weekend has been suspended for an indefinite period.

The suspended forum was intended to call on the government to cancel the UBS loan transaction, and to present a petition to the Prime Minister, Peter O'Neill.

Mr Anjo said he has advised his lawyers to consider taking legal action against the police for suppressing their freedom to speech and movement.

He also condemned statements by Assistant Police Commissioner for NCD Central, Jim Andrews, saying his lawyers were also looking at this.

Anjo has always been at the forefront of speaking out against government policy and decisions, that he has claimed, were not in the interests of the people, or the country.

However, the responsibility and decision as to whether public gatherings and forums can be held, rests solely with the police.

In the past, police in the nation’s capital, have experienced public gatherings that have turned rowdy.
