Member for Alotau, Charles Abel told Alotau residents this afternoon, that the situation in town is under control and for them to remain calm.
Abel addressed a large crowd that gathered in the middle of the sleepy tourist township, after news spread that the PNG Air office in town was being robbed.
He also appealed to residents of Alotau not to harbor criminals. The situation this morning caused a lot of panic in town since it occurred just days after a police man was shot.
While Alotau residents were quick to assist tourists on board the P&O ship who were visiting the town, Abel said they must also help in ridding the town of criminal elements.
