POM Racquets Club Supports Tere-Apisah With K10,000

POM Racquets Club has come forward with an incentive of K10,000 that will go towards PNG Tennis Star, Abigail Tere-Apisah.

The 24 year old is currently on her Australian tour, and Club President Tim Kriebisch hopes the sponsorship can assist her with living expenses.

Since winning four gold medals for the country in the Pacific Games last year, Tere-Apisah has not received any sponsorship apart from the incentives the government gave her.

She joined the Women’s Tennis Association or WTA, early this year, at the world ranking of 936. She currently sits in the 543rd spot while Kriebisch hopes, by next year, she can make it into the top 200.

She qualified for the semifinals last Friday as well in the Bendigo Tennis International, on the Australia Pro Tour, after defeating Naikhta Bains.

Kriebisch is appealing for more sponsors to come forward and supports this young woman as she has the potential to climb the ranks in the WTA.

Present to receive the incentive was, Abigail’s father, Kwalam Apisah, who was pleased to receive the generous support, as he was the sole financial provider for his daughter.
