Dogodo Bau Debut

Injected into the Barramundis squad in place of former captain Jack Vare recently, 22-year-old debutant, Dogodo Bau executed his first match in the Inter-Continental Cup against Namibia, exceptionally well.

He finished up with seven (7) runs and took three (3) catches.

At the age of 12, Dogodo Bau started playing cricket.

Little did he know, 10 years on, he will be in the Barramundis squad.

Becoming the 116th Papua New Guinean to represent the country at senior level, Bau received his Black Baggy cap as a symbolic gesture from the current Cricket PNG Chief Selector, Daniel Faunt, on Sunday morning before the ICUP match.

A right hand Batsman and surprisingly a great wicket keeper, this first timer proved himself worthy when he made the catch of the day on Tuesday that sent out the last of Namibia’s top order batsmen, Benarrd Scholts.

An excited Bau now looks forward to playing Namibia again tomorrow in Round four of the World Cricket League Championship ODI and another on Sunday.
