Buimayong community organises creative initiative to fundraise for church building

Over 200 Lutheran faithfuls took part in a barter ceremony at Buimayong, Lae on Sunday.

While it was the last day of the 2016 Morobe Show, the parishioners in their Sunday best made the overcast day lively with song and dance perfomances.

Visiting members of the Altar Circuit of Mt.Hagen were thankful of the warm welcome they had received from the Titus Parish community. They will reciprocate the gesture when the Lae group visits them later in the year, also for a fundraising drive.

The event’s aim was to raise K10,000 towards erecting a new building for the community.

Morobe Governor, Kelly Naru, presidents for the Ahi LLG and local church circuit were invited to witness the day, together with other stakeholders.

The Western Highlands group waited till Monday mid-afternoon to travel back after Works department set up a relief bridge at the 11 mile flood-cut road.
