RPNGC Team return home from the Australasian Police Fire and Emergency Games

The Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary Team arrived back in the country today from the Australasian Police Fire and Emergency Games in Australia.

Despite the short preparation period, Chef De Mission Chief Superintendent Dominic Kakas said the team performed well, grabbing gold, silver and bronze in a number of categories. Out of the seven codes PNG participated in, PNG collected gold in Rugby 7s, Basketball, darts, and athletics.

“We did our best during the games,” said Kakas.

The 9s rugby team fell short in the gold contest, silver and bronze were won also in different categories of darts, basketball, 200 metres men’s sprint, shot-put and javelin. Rachael Pinda won gold in the 200 women’s sprints.

Over 50 PNG policemen and women took part in the 8 days competition on Australia’s Sunshine Coast.

With the overwhelming result, the Chef De Mission says more effort will be placed for the next games, with the inclusion of other sporting codes.

The next games will be in 2018.
