130,000 students take part in 2016 Global Hand Washing Day

The Lae international School of Lae or TISOL was among 196 schools participating in this year’s Global Hand Washing  Day.

Colgate Palmolive PNG had organised the day with  other key stakeholders, which saw the participation of 130,000 students nationwide.

With the theme, ‘Breaking the chain of infection’, the main aim is to prevent infection from happening. United Nation Children’s Emergency Fund (Unicef), says about 300,000 children die from preventable diarrhoeal diseases every year. Papua New Guinea is also counted in this report.

Colgate Palmolive’s General Manager, John Wood attending the event, said teachers and parents set examples for children to follow; and hand washing must become a lifelong habit.

The Colgate Palmolive team were spreading awareness today at this year’s Morobe Show, and will continue on Sunday.
