Warangoi Bridge Upgrade

The Warangoi Bridge in Pomio District, East New Britain, Papua New Guinea, needs immediate repair as it is slowly crumbling.

Local contractor, Golk Kund Investment, that won the bid to carry out maintenance work, is facing difficulties as they battle against the onslaught of the Warangoi River.

Funding has also been highlighted as a challenge as limited funding is available to complete the repairs needed.

The 80-metre Warangoi bridge is a vital piece of infrastructure, linking Kokopo town to the Pomio District.

It is widely believed by the community that the bridge has not been fixed for many years.
