National Alliance Party Launching

The National Alliance (NA) Party launched its party policies and platforms for the 2017 national elections in Port Moresby yesterday.

At least 160 NA members from across the country gathered during the launching ceremony.

Present at the event were current party members in parliament including founder, Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare, party executives, intending candidates and officials.

The purpose of this caucus meeting was to unveil the party’s platform and policies prior to the issue of writs for the 2017 national elections.

NA President, Walter Schnaubelt, said the 160 party representatives were called to present reports to council members to formulate programs and campaign strategies.

General Secretary, Joyce Grant, on behalf of the party members moved the motion declaring vacancy in the Momase Deputy President and its council post.

Atis Deme was appointed Deputy Party President for Momase Region and Ben Gare as the council member.

Council member Stephen Pokawin said this is according to the party’s constitution which allows for council members to be appointed based on qualifications.

The National Alliance Party is one of the 34 political parties registered under the Organic Law on Integrity of Political Parties and Candidates.
