Angau CEO Refutes Claims of Bad Service

Angau General Hospital CEO, Dr. Christopher Kenyhercz, says the hospital’s Accident and Emergency unit has enough medical practitioners and consultants to assist patients who go to the hospital.

Emergency services are provided and patients are treated accordingly.

Dr. Kenyhercz made these remarks following a number of allegations of poor service by members of the public.

He said medical practitioners’ working at the Accident and Emergency unit treat patients according to their problems.

Patients with the most severe problem always get treated first before patients with less severe complaints.

Dr. Kenyhercz said they also make sure that patients must be seen in a reasonable amount of time.

He said there have been concerns made regarding the hospital’s poor service by members of the public.

These concerns have already been brought to the attention of the medical director.

Four years ago, Angau hospital facilities were in a shocking state. The buildings were infested with termites while patients were sleeping on the corridors.

In 2013 an NEC, decision declared a state of emergency at the hospital.

A new CEO was appointed, with Dr. Jim Abrahams having since left. The NEC made K15 million available for emergency restoration work.

Within 18 months, the first stage of the emergency restoration was completed. Bed capacity increased, new ablution blocks were constructed and the old structures demolished.

Last year Dr. Jim Abrahams was replaced by the current CEO Dr. Christopher Kenyhercz.

Dr. Kenyhercz said if a concern or comment is raised.

It is normally discussed with the Director of Medical Services. There, they try to verify all the facts available.

If the hospital management finds that its medical officers failed to do their duties, they will than be disciplined.
