A Chinese medical team from the Department of Health in Guangdong Province visited Port Moresby General Hospital today.
The team has donated medical kits and equipment to provide health care to patients.
Comprising nine medical specialists, they concluded their five-day assistance mission in PNG on Thursday, providing free medical services to local residents.
The nine professors carried out their work at both Eastern Highlands Provincial Hospital and Port Moresby General Hospital.
Deputy Director General of Guangdong Province Health Department, Jiang Xiaodong, said they have diagnosed 237 outpatients and 55 inpatients.
This is the fifth time for a Guangdong medical delegation to visit PNG.
Unlike previous visits, this time they provided an additional eight lectures in the fields of oral health, acupuncture, orthopaedic, cardiovascular, and endocrinology, for local medical officers and nurses.
Since 2012, around 20 medical teams from Guangdong Province have visited Pacific island countries to provide free medical services, warmly welcomed by locals.
Present on behalf of the hospital board to receive these medical kits was Director of Medical Service, Dr. David Mokela.
Dr. Mokela thanked the officials and the Chinese government for their strong ties with the PNG government through health care services.
He says this will enhance understanding and strengthen ties for future cooperation in the medical field.
