Lewas Training on Schedule

The CPL PNG Lewas are now into their second week of training after a week’s rest from the East Asia Pacific Qualifiers in Samoa, in which they were successful in winning the tournament.

Coach Rodney Maha said in preparation for the World Cup Qualifiers, the next seven months will be dedicated to the Lewas intensive training.

He added the competition in the World Cup Qualifiers is expected to be a lot tougher than the East Asia Pacific qualifiers.

The Lewas now have four days training each week at the Taurama Aquatic Centre and the Lewas home ground, Amini Park, which includes skills and fitness to better their performance.

After observing the team’s successful performance in Samoa, Maha is looking at pushing the team further to heighten their game, in order to be able to play at a world standard.

Meanwhile, the Lewas will meet Australia in two friendlies before the World Cup Qualifiers in England.

At the moment most of the team members are participating in the POM cricket competition and are attending Lewas training on the scheduled days.
