The Singapore U21 team arrived early this morning and was received at Jackson International Airport by PNG Netball Federation President, Julienne Leka-Maliaki.
PNG, who will meet them in the friendlies this weekend, has been doing high performance training and is keen to see the outcome of the matches.
The main goal of the friendlies is to help the selection process of both teams for the World Cup qualifiers in Auckland, New Zealand.
Upon arrival this morning with her team in town, Singapore U21 Head Coach, Joanne Kyra Loo, was elated at the prospect of playing PNG for the first time.
Despite being in a new environment, she is confident her team will put up their best as these friendlies will also be used as a World Cup Qualifiers Selections platform for both countries.
Kyra Loo added that most of her team are new compared to PNG, and it will be challenging as they put their skills to test this weekend.
PNG Netball Federation President, Julienne Leka-Maliaki, is optimistic about the friendlies because it will showcase high end netball to local netballers, giving the new players in the PNG U21 Team a taste of International netball.
Meanwhile, apart from the friendlies, Singapore and PNG will play two curtain raiser matches for the Central Senior Tournament grand final as well as the POM association semis.
The Singapore team will leave PNG next Monday.
