Government Caucus Meet in Alotau

With just four days left until the Vote of No Confidence hits the floor of parliament this Friday, the government caucus flew to Alotau yesterday with the Prime Minister and 74 other members of parliament jetting off for a leadership camp in Alotau.

The government believes its numbers speak for themselves as the vote looms.

Despite talks of opposition numbers increasing, parties in the O’Neill-Dion coalition government have pledged their support to the current PNC led government.

On Saturday, the Government Caucus was at Port Moresby’s Airways Hotel. With the numerical strength of 81 members, including governors and ministers, a closed-door meeting was held with the Prime Minister.

Other members of the government caucus flew to Alotau yesterday, with more potentially expected to join the team today. In a statement by Leader of Government Business and Finance Minister, James Marape, he said the government’s numbers have increased to 91.

The government and opposition have been in camp since Friday when Parliament moved the motion for a Vote of No Confidence this coming Friday, July 22.
