Tok Piksa – Episode 17, 2016

We travel to the New Ireland Province to feature the celebration of 25 years of service for Bishop Ambrose Kiapseni, Bishop of the Catholic Dioses of Kavieng and Lorengau.
Hundreds gathered in faith at the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart cathedral in Kavieng to celebrate faith in thanksgiving.
Bishop Ambrose Kiapseni, is one of the first and longest serving Papua New Guinean Bishops, since the localisation of the Catholic Church in PNG and the Solomon Islands. He was appointed to his episcope of ministry to serve as Bishop of the local Dioses.
Journalist, Fabian Hakalits, was in New Ireland for Bishop Ambrose Kiapseni’s silver jubilee celebration.
It’s not often that the supreme head of the Catholic Church sends out a congratulatory message to a faithful servant, but that was what Pope Francis did when he congratulated Bishop Ambrose Kiapseni for his 25 years as a Bishop of the local dioses in Kavieng.
The Pope’s message was delivered by the Archbishop of Rabaul, Francesco Panfilo.
Pope Francis described Bishop Ambrose Kiapseni as a man of God who entrusted his life as a missionary of the Sacred Heart.
When Bishop Ambrose Kiapseni was consecrated as a dioses and Bishop, he chose this motto, finding it as his direction in life, and in his episcope of ministry: “To love the people entrusted to his care, to do justice to them and yet to be humble before God to whom he will render in account in regarding whatever his service was.”
We speak with Bishop Ambrose Kiapseni who shares his journey of his 25 years as a Bishop.
