Top Four Meet for Intercity Cup Semis

by Skola Sengi – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

The semi-finals of the 2015 Intercity Cup will take place this weekend, when four teams will be cut to two for the following week’s final.

The Agmark Gurias will mark another milestone with a semi-finals appearance, after the departure of Michael Marum as coach to the SP PNG Hunters in 2013.

While he has big shoes to fill, current Gurias coach Steven Nightingale has proven that he has the team under him to take the title home in 2015.

The return of Albert Patak and Pidi Tongap add experience to an otherwise young and youthful Gurias outfit.

It will be a rematch of last year’s grand final when they meet defending cup champions Hela Wigman at 2pm in Kokopo.

Snax Tigers will travel to Kundiawa to meet the Simbu Lions in what has been labelled as the clash of the big cats.

They too will bank on their experienced players to lead a side which earlier took out its second minor premiership.

The winner of each respective semi-final match will meet in the grand final, which will be staged in Port Moresby.
