by Bethanie Harriman – EM TV Sport, Lae

In the first ten minutes, Lae City Dwellers and Goroka Gosiha opened the match with exchanges in the midfield and forwards. Both teams equally matched in the attack.

Nigel Dabinyaba’s presences in front proved menacing for the Gosiha defenders.

Dabinyaba opened the scoring when he pushed a Raymond Gunemba left wing cross into the back of the net past Gosiha Goalkeep Asa.

A few attempts were made in the next twenty-minute Lae City Dwellers visiting the Goroka Gosiha end more often.

The Goroka Gosiha Goal Keeper, Twayng Asa, was made to come out of his goalmouth to make a saves.

An attempt by number eight Jethro Mautaya was tipped over the cross bar by Gosiha Keeper mid-way through the first half.

Dabinyaba later added one more mid-way through the first half with a scintillating low range strike past Gosiha goalkeeper, Twayng Asa after a through pass from Greg Gunemba.

Lae City Dwellers, Raymond Gunemba was outstanding in the first half, maintaining a central mid-field presence and directing traffic.

Goroka Gosiha’s back line of defenders Andrew Joe, Nathan Kell and Richie Apisa did well against Dwellers attacking outfit that won the 2014 Finals against Madang FC.

Much of the first half was played on the Goroka Gosiha territory keeping Gosiha Goalkeeper, Twayng Asa, busy.

On a rare visit to the Lae City Dweller end Gosiha captain, Gerard Laselic, lofted the ball over the bar missing a wonderful opportunity to put the goroka boys on the board.

Second Half

Captain and Midfielder, Raymond Gunemba was replaced by Nigel Dabinyaba who wore the captains armband after the break.

Twenty minutes into the game and break by Obert Bika, the striker slotted home a goal after maneuvering past Gosiha Keeper Asa.

Less than a minute later, Obert Bika found him in the box again after a pass from Koropol Albert, Bika made no mistake, putting the ball past Asa again into the back of the net for the Dwellers fourth goal.

Only threats coming from the Gosiha forwards were from Daniel Amadi and Dunley Lester with several shots from around the box area.

Amadi also made a superb ran from the left wing, crossing the ball to Dunley Lester who headed the ball over the bar. No real challenge for Lae City Dwellers Goal Keeper, Jason Bendi.

Deep into the second half frustrations took its toll on Goroka Gosiha Striker, Derick Nakabana who was shown a yellow card for a challenge on Jephat Tiampo.

Another Goal in the last ten minutes by Mathew David from a Koropol Albert right wing cross put the Dwellers 5-0 ahead of New Boys Goroka Gosiha.
