Hagen Businessman Koi Back In Court

by Jack Lapauve – EM TV, Port Moresby

Prominent Hagen Businessman, Nixon Koi, has been rearrested and faces trial after being charged of stealing a huge commercial land under false pretense.

On Friday, Magistrate Cosmas Bidar set the matter to 28th of July 2015 after new appointment of arresting officers and complaints of technical deficiencies by police officers.

Complainant Gregory Koim says, police officers have taken too long to compile files and present to court hearing. Mr Koim wants this improved as represented by his lawyer last Friday.

The case initially referred to charges laid against Hagen’s Mr Koi, for the alleged illegal acquisition of land owned by the National Council of Young Men’s Association of PNG, in the Western Highlands Province.

Koi was charged with one count of stealing by false pretense, conspiracy, perjury, uttering and cheating. All charges fall under the Criminal Code Act Chapter 264.

Mr Koi’s case has been running for over 20 years after Police Forensic found his signatures as forged.
