Turf Club Settlers Close to Get Land Title

By Stanley Ove Jr – EM TV News, Port Moresby

Settlers living at the old Turf Club at 9 mile outside Port Moresby are a step closer to acquire a proper land title.

This follows the launch of the settlement’s first water supply that will pave way for other development projects.

Moresby North-East MP Labi Amaiu who launched the water project said while land grabbing is becoming a concern in Port Moresby, settlers must be wise when dealing with land.

A master-plan was also launched as part of a residential development plan.

The plan was put together by the Pilgrim Residential Development Association, an association that was created by the settlers.

Chairman of the association, Dominic Mealin said the launching of the water project is a sign of hope for the settlers.

“It is one supporting factor we see by allowing water to come in. So when things like this happen, it gives us the moral support that something good is going to happen for us in the near future,” Mealin said.
