PNG to Create Renewable Energy Policy

By Vasinatta Yama – EM TV News, Port Moresby

Papua New Guinea will create its own energy policy to minimise the effects of global warning, and climate change.

Renewable resources like wind and river water will be used to generate clean energy.

Energy specialists from selected countries have recommended that PNG has the potential for such an ambitious project to work.

They say PNG has the potential to produce clean energy with the renewable resources it has.

It’s the heat and electricity produced from renewable resources that generates little to no pollution or radiation.

PNG is currently using non-renewable resources such as gas and oil, both of which contribute to the greenhouse effect, and pose a serious health risk to people.

PNG is now looking to follow the global trend in the production of clean energy.

Once this energy policy is passed in parliament, it will set the foundation to make PNG industrialised in 20 years.

Meanwhile, academics and specialists are aiming to see how higher education institutions will facilitate the process of encouraging clean and renewable systems.
