by Fabian Hakalits – EM TV News, Port Moresby

The Papua New Guinea Accident Investigation Commission (AIC) has been commended for maintaining consistency, and moving towards full compliance with international standards.

The man in charge of the Transport Sector Support Program, Peter White, was speaking at the second joint meeting between commissioners of the AIC and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau in Port Moresby today.

White said much has been achieved over time and is optimistic further gains will be realised in the coming years.

AIC Chief Executive Officer, Captain David Inau, said the independent transport safety investigation is capable of addressing issues concerning aviation safety

Australian Transport Safety Bureau Chief Commissioner, Martin Dolan, was encouraged by PNG’s progress and development saying both countries will continue to work together in partnership.

These joint commissioner’s meetings are part of the capacity development program, aimed to strengthen and improve governance arrangements and performance at management level.
