The Indian Government has come to the aid of the St Charles Lwanga High School, in Port Moresby.

A sum of K250,000 was given to the school Principal, Brother Thomas Joseph, this morning to start the construction of new teacher’s houses.

Representing the Indian Government, Indian High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea, Madhava Chandra, said the school is setting a new standard for education in Port Moresby. He told students that the school Principal, Br Thomas, has contributed a lot to education in Papua New Guinea and that students should be grateful.

Receiving the funds, Br Thomas said India is a developing nation like Papua New Guinea and the donation would help the school greatly. He added that the support received encouraged the school to work harder.

He told teachers that they have a greater responsibility to their students, to deliver quality education.

The school is planning to enrol its first Grade 11, next year.

St Charles Lwanga High School is located in Gerehu, in Port Moresby’s North-West electorate.
