The administration of Bubia Lutheran Primary School outside of Lae has achieved a milestone by completing construction of a K500,000 building, funded by student project fees.
The school’s principal, James Timbing, said the board had collected project fees from the past two years.
Today, Bubia Primary School in Morobe’s Houn Gulf district opened its newest classroom.
The building, made up of four classrooms, was built from project fees collected from students’ school fees over the last two years.
“What the school board did was very smart, they part withalmost K100,000 each year from the project fees, that’s why we rolled on over two years, that’s what we did in 2014,” Timbing said.
Huon Gulf MP, Ross Seymore, and Morobe Governor, Kelly Naru, opened the two-storey classroom after it was completed in 16 weeks.
More than 1,000 students and their parents gathered to celebrate the opening of this four-in-one building.
The school continues to plan for more developments; one involves the construction of another building similar to the one opened today.
