By Meriba Tulo – EM TV News, Wapenamanda

Austraila will provide assistance to PNG to combat the effects of the current drought and frost.

Foreign Affairs Minister, Julie Bishop, announced Australia’s commitment of K10 million during a visit to Enga province yesterday.

Minister Bishop was in Enga Province at the invitation of her PNG counterpart and Wapenamanda MP, Rimbink Pato.

Her visit to the province also coincided with the announcement of Australia’s funding commitment towards assisting people affected by the current drought and frost.

Minister Pato said the commitment shown by Australia in assisting PNG was yet another demonstration of the close relationship between both countries.

Enga Governor, Chief Peter Ipatas, echoed these sentiments.

Whilst in Enga Province, Bishop also had the opportunity to visit several education and health training facilities that will be receiving increased support from the Australian government.
