Trukai Industries have honored their earlier promise, rewarding PNG Gold medal winning weightlifters with a total of K65,000 as part of the company’s incentive following the Pacific Games.
The PNG weightlifting team won a total of 13 Gold medals, with young Thelma Mea Toua bagging three.
On the eve of the XV Pacific Games, Trukai announced that they would reward PNG weightlifters with K5,000 for every Gold medal won during the games.
And today, Trukai Industries honoured their commitment and presented a cheque of K65,000 to the PNG Weightlifting Federation.
Athletes that were at the presentation today were, Guba Hale, Sandra Ako, Steven Kari and Dika Toua.
The weightlifters were grateful for Trukai’s support of Weightlifting PNG.
Many of the weightlifters who were to receive an award were missing from the presentation, competing overseas in New Caledonia. For those absent, family members were on hand to receive the don’tion on their behalf.
