Opposition leader Don Polye says PNG athletes will not have time to get a feel of the games facilities currently under construction.
He says, the government should have planned properly to allow our athletes to train and use the facilities months before the games. “Two to three weeks of training prior to the games is not enough for our athletes”, Polye said.
Polye said the weather pattern is not helping at all for construction work to finish as well. He said both the government and contractors have no control over phase of swiftly finishing the games facilities on time.
The Opposition leader said if the government had plan well-ahead, athletes would have enough time to get acquainted with home ground facilities.
However Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and 2015 Pacific Games and Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko are confident contractors will complete the task ahead of schedule. Both maintain that the government is confident contractors will finish work ahead of schedule for the games to happen.
Less than four months remain before the 2015 Pacific Games kick-off.
