This weekend’s match between the SP PNG Hunters and Ipswich Jets has been cancelled, due to a potential category 4 cyclone and severe flood warnings.
Due to extreme weather predictions, the Ipswich Jets have made a pre-emptive decision in cancelling this weekend’s trial games against the Tweed Heads Seagulls and SP PNG Hunters.
SP PNG Hunters Chief Executive Officer, Brad Tassel said it is safer to cancel the trial matches for this weekend, although it is not what they wanted.
Tassel apologised to fans travelling to watch the game for the inconvenience this change has caused.
Ipswich Jets Chief Executive Officer, Wayne Wendt said he fully understands the decision of the cancellation of the games due to rough weather conditions. He said they are now working on either a postponement of the match or an alternative trial game before the season kick-off.
