Sarah Todd, a local business woman in Lae is vocal about hoPNG criminal laws are being imposed to punish law breakers.

Papua New Guinearsquo;s record of high rate of physical and sexual abuse has attracted global attention.

Morobe’s Law and Order Chairman, Peter Namus while addressing nurses atthe Angau General Hospital on Wednesday says “it’s about time Papua New Guineashould impose tougher laws”.

Crimes committed against both men and women many times go unpunished. The problems are usually solved out of court through compensation payments and this allows offenders to go free.

This continuing trend has renderePNG’s criminal laws ineffective.
