More than 200 athletes will meet this weekend for the National Track and Field Athletic Championships in Kokopo.
This is part of preparations for the 2015 Pacific Games.
Athletes from East New Beitain, West New Beitain and New Ireland will be participating including ther centers, Simbu, NCD, East Sepik and Western provinces.
North Solomons, Enga, Madang and Eastern Highlands will only have a few representatives who are inthe 2015 Pacific Games target squad brought tothe Camp in Kokopo by AthleticPNG.
PNG Athletics president Tony Green said primary and secondary schools in Niugini Islands regions have shown support by taking part.
The competition will kick off at 3pm on Friday with heats inthe Open and U18 Mens 800m, heats inthe 400m , andthe mens 10000m final; followed by two full days of competition on Saturday and Sunday.
AthleticPNG will announce its team for the Pacific Mini Games soon afterthe Championships.
