Mangi Lo Ples Makes Inaugural Flight to Vanimo

Locally owned Airline Company, Travel Air &#39Mangi Lo Ples#39; has made its inaugural flight to Vanimo to kick – start commercial operationsthere.

 

The flight last week was extra special as it transported over 100 kilograms of Medical Supplies for Vanimo General Hospital.

Forty – six passengers including Sandaun Governor Amkat Mai were privileged to fly with Travel AirMangi Lo Plesfrom Port Moresby to Vanimo.

 

Upon arrival, Owner and Businessman Eremas Wartoto togther with Governor Mai officially cut –the ribbon to launch regular flights to Vanimo.

 

Mr Wartovo’said it roughly cost K4.2 million to set up an airline company, but he has done it to bring services closer to remote areas inthe country.

 

The demand for air transport has increased, and Travel Air since its inception in 2011 has offered low cost flights to eight destinations. Owner Wartoto urgedthe government to subsidise small airline companies.

 

The inaugural flight to Vanimo saw 100 kilograms of medical supplies delivered for Vanimo General Hospital. Sandaun Governor Amkat Mai has pledged K200, 000 to assist Travel Air with operations inthe province and anther K500, 000 will follow suit.

 

The transported medical goods are part of Travel Air’s community obligation.

 

The Airline Company also assists Cancer Patients from Port Moresby General Hospital airlifted to Lae’s Angau Hospital for Treatment.
