Kirakira Candidates focus on Women & Youth

Education, youth and women’s issues arethe key focuses of intending candidates ofthe local level representation.

Kirakira village, although located onthe periphery ofthe nation’s capital, has infrastructure and education challenges similar to those found inthe country’s remote areas.

Asthe people prepare to casttheir votes for the lLeadershey hope will bring better change totheir livelihoodthe candidates also havetheir goals.

Whilethe intending members have been out campaigning, inthe hope of gettingthe numbers to seethem throughthe people are adamant that a change for the better in needed.

Bet not everyone is excited aboutthe LLG elections. Ross Temu is not from Kirakira, and although he is very much part ofthe community here, and has been for the past 36 years, a new law says he is not eligible to vote.

Polling begins on Monday next week and Electoral Commission awareness teams are out inthe communities, helpingthe people understandthe Limited Preferential Voting system, and demonstrating how to cast votes.
