National Fisheries Authority Supports Operation Open Heart

A heart specialist has stated thatthere is an increase inthe number of lifestyle diseases in Papua New Guinea

Dr Jack Amana ofthe Sir Beri Kidu Heart institute says one in every 10 people inthe country visitsthe institute at any one time and says that early detection can save lives.

 

Dr Amana madethese remarks while commending National Fisheries Authority for an apparatus that detects heart irregularities.

 

This is notthe first time for National Fisheries Authority to assist Operation Open Heart and it won’t bethe last.

 

Mr. Pokajam said,  “K400, 000 NFA donated to Open HeartoSir Beri Kidu Foundation…This is to enhance that particular equipment we bought last year.”

 

NFA,the business –arm of Fisheries Ministry purchased this life-saving equipment to complementthe existing machine that detects heart problems. 

 

Director of Sir Beri Kidu HeartInstitute Dr Amana said this intensive x-ray will show doctors heart problems in patients ahead of time in order properly diagnose and treatthem accordingly.

 

Operation Open Heart will host its first fundraising next Thursday at Motukea Island in Port Moresby whilethe start ofthe operation will be onthe 27sup>th of July.
