New Castle Knights prop Neville Costigan is captain ofthe 2013 Team Kumuls totheWorld Cup in England.
Neville, who was part ofthe 2008 team under John Wilshere’s captaincy, is optimistic for a better outcome asthey take on France intheir first match.
“I’ve never thought of captainingthe Kumul side but when I gotthe callthe ther night to be captain, I was proud and honored and feel privileged to captainthe good bunch of boys,” said Neville Costigan.
Neville will make sure both on and off field discipline is maintained asthey continuetheir world cup duties.
Team Kumul head coach Adrian Lam announcedthe captaincy yesterday (Monday) in Port Moresby beforethe team departed for England.
“We pickedthe best possible side we can and we’re very confident thatthey’re going to going to givetheir best for this world cup,” said Lam.
Coaching Director Mal Meninga is thankful tothe hard working coaching staff and national selectors. He saysthe onus is now withthe players.
“I understand thatthey need to play totheir potential to be successful, and that’s our challenge. That challenge is for individual and group to play our best as we possibly can,” said Meninga.
Team Kumul isthe second team afterthe USA to have more local players.
This will be a bonus for first timers who will be makingtheir debut in a match that matterthe most and highly competitive.
Meanwhile, Joe Beuno isthe new inclusion tothe team while James Segeyaro who has not been recovered froPM’s XIII match will not be taking part including Charlie Wabo for personal reason.
