Almost two hundred women of Kavieng graduated after undergoing training in small businesses, as well as engaging in improving lifestyle activities.
This gthering of New Ireland women recently was unique;they have never been most focused and accommodating.
It wasthe graduation day for women who had been trained on various activities. It also involved four skilled Fijian trainers.
The One Hundred and Ninety one eager women who graduated last Friday underthe “Kirapim Ples Meri” initiative bythe Niu Ailan Meri Risoses Cooperative – women underwent training enhancingtheir poultery, cookery, sewing, tailoring, hairdressing and handicrafts.
Ben Micah has beenthe initiator ofthe four co-operatives in New Ireland, which extend to Fisheries, Copra and Oil Palm.
He has decided to re-visit’some ofthe early incoming activities that once capturedthe interest ofthe peoplethen.
This time he was atthe graduation of women who have progressed fromthe training, encouragingthem to grasp positive business ventures that will enrich not onlytheir lives butthe community.
Also present atthe closing ceremony ofthe training was Lady Winifred Kamit.
She representedthe AusAid, asthe Patron of Womenin BusinessInitiative.
