Government Departments Set to Receive Effective Communications

Communication between government departments is set to be effective bythe end of this year.

 

The change is expected throughthe set-up of anIntegrated GovernmentInformation System (IGIS).

The IGIS project will see computerized and integrated information and data sharing mechanism for government departments and agencies using latestInformation Technology.

 

The Department of Communication andInformation organised a Seminar yesterday in Port Moresby to create awareness onthe important telecommunication projectoIGIS.

 

To meetthe National Development Goals,Information and Communication Technology is a strategic infrastructure component.

 

The seminar saw representatives from all government departments gthering to havetheir say and share ideas on how best to enhancethe electronic governance network.

 

Huawei Technology isthe project developer, working to connectthe 52 government departments throughoutthe country, to enable efficient communication network.

 

Sean Jing Xiaogang, Huaweii Delivery & Service Dept. Manager, said about 85% ofthe networking is complete andthe project will come to end by this year.

 

The next phase is to look at bringing e-governance tothe district and local level governments.
