The situation is still tense andthere is no traffic moving throughthe Wapenamanda section ofthe Enga highway.
This followsthe closure ofthe road after Sunday’s Digicel cup challenge in Wabag where a man was killed following troubles outsidethe Johnson Siki oval.
Relatives ofthe diseased,the Yakuman tribe dug a huge hole acrossthe road at Wapenamanda preventing all traffic flow.
Reports fromthe area say Policethere are outnumbered andthe clansmen have taken control ofthe road.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill made an undertaking onthe floor of parliament that extra police are expected to be deployed to Wapenamanda soon.
He saidthe road block throughthe Wapenamanda section ofthe Enga highway has to be lifted at all costs.
Meantime,the threat has also forced Air Niugini to suspend flights to Wapenamanda for an indefinite period.
