PIH on A 5-DayHIV/AIDS Campaign

PacificInternational Hospital andthe Vision City Mall initiated a 5-day HIV/AIDS campaign on December first in Port Moresby, recognizingWorld AIDS Day

Using its clinic onthe ground floor ofthe shopping mall,the campaign, aimed at educating shoppers and visitors aboutthe HIV/AIDS, was launched by Health Minister Michael Malabag.

 

Mr. Malabag launchedthe campaign by picking a condom from a board, which stated “Let’s make AIDS disappear.” The word AIDS was spelt with condom packs, symbolizing thatthe use of condoms will assist in preventingthe spread ofthe disease.

 

Members ofthe publicthen followed and picked upthe rest ofthe condoms untilthe word AIDS disappeared.

 

Mr. Malabag emphasized this years’World AIDS daytheme, “StoP GENDER BeSED VIOLENCE, REDUCE HIV” and urged those present to remember people affected bythe HIV epidemic.

 

Acting CEO and Director of PIH, Dr. Amyna Sultan, encouragedthe public to visitthe PIH kiosk inthe mall to learnthe facts about HIV/AIDS.

 

Dr. Sultan also announced that free voluntary AIDS testing will be offered atthe PIH family clinic, located atthe ground floor ofthe mall.

 

This campaign will run for 5 days (01st -5th Dec 2013 at Vision City mega mall Campus) andthe public is encouraged to visitthe PIH kiosk inthe mall.
