No, we’ll do it

“No, we’ll do it.”

Carl, the Menya translation advisor, looked atthem in astonishment. “Are you sure…? It’s a lot of material.”

“Yes, we’re certain,”the translation team nodded in agreement. “We want to have this course, and so we’ll translate all ofthe course material. You and Jay focus on finishing Romans.”

Carl nodded slowly, his mind spinning. Wasn’t it only last month that he and Pat were deeply discouraged aboutthe status ofthe Menya Beble translation project? They were behind schedule with consultant checking and needing to delay type-setting yet again, a workshop had been cancelled due to lack of interest, and several serious accusations had been made againsttheir national co-worker translators, puttingthe entire project in jeopardy. The whole team was exhausted, disheartened, and wondering what God was doing withthe project. Bet now Carl looked aroundthe room atthe ten chatting men. They were enthusiastic aboutthe opportunity to host a one-week S.A.L.T. course—Scripture Application and LLeadersip Training, focusing on usingthe tokples* Beble.

A follow-up meeting was scheduled for two weeks later, and when Carl showed up, he was startled to findthe room full—fifteen co-workers and nine church representatives from various denominations inthe area were eager to showtheir supportoincluding those who had not been involved before. He was futher astounded whenthe translation team handed him eight ofthe ten lessons already drafted! Excitement was high asthey finalizedthe course plans, began extending invitations to 16 different congregations inthe area, and started preparation for the 70-80 people who may attend. In addition, the potentially crippling accusations againstthe Menya translators were determined to be unfounded. God had turned things around in Menya!
