Melasian Business Community Raises K200, 000 For POMGEN

The Port Moresby General Hospital was the major recipient of the Malaysian Business Community’s Annual Charity fundraising, receiving two hundred thousand kina.

The charity event also benefitted a number of other organizations, including the City Mission and Operation Open Heart.

 

For over a decade, the Malaysian business community have been hosting its annual charity event to raise funds for the less fortunate.

 

The auction dinner held on Saturday evening, was a continuation of the previous day’s Golf event which featured 42 corporate and privately sponsored teams.

 

The fundraising event began in 2001, and its inaugural year raised K27, 000.

 

Last year alone raised K900,000, a sum, Ivan Lu, Chairman of the organizing committee had made mention of at the charity golf event.

 

Cody Lau, president of the Malaysian Association of PNG, said that the people of Malaysia were hoping to reach a milestone in relations with PNG.

 

Malaysia’s High Commissioner to PNG, His Excellency Jilid Kuminding was guest of honour at the dinner, speaking about his sincere appreciation at being part of the auspicious event and how his country was happy in its commitment to nation and capacity building in PNG.

 

Corporate bodies at the event included the RH group, Lamana, AON, SP Brewery, and CPL.
