Accountability, reason for spending and transparency must be present in the business of service delivery.
These points were raised by Member for Kairuku Hiri, Peter Isoaimo, while addressing the United Church Elders in Hisiu, Central Province.
Isoaimo told his people that his role is to administer their money and encouraged his people to enter into small businesses.
During the visit, the local MP presented K15, 000 in cash, from his electorate’s District Improvement Program Funds, to United Church elders.
The presentation is the local MP’s initiative to fund Church activities in his electorate as an attempt to reduce crime-related activity.
The church elders told EM TV News that this was the first time they have seen such a huge amount of money pumped into their church.
They said the money will be used to rehabilitate the old church building and run their administration work.
This the second cash presentation made in a space of 2 days. On Saturday, the Member presented K50, 000 in cash from his DSIP funds to the Catholic Church at Inauaia in East Mekeo.
The Member will also be visiting the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Yule Island this Thursday to further assist the Catholic diocese with funding.
