National Road Safety Council Aids Police

The National Road Safety Council is taking the message of road safety down the Magi Highway, starting tomorrow.

It launched this program at Gordons Police Barracks today while presenting computers to the Central Police Highway Patrol team.

The computers will aid police in keeping their records.

The National Road Safety Council over the years, have been assisting police to advance their work in the area of Road Safety.

Executive Director of the NRSC, Nelson Terema, says both the rise in the number of vehicles, and the improvement of roads around the country, has certainly given rise to vehicle related accidents, and a collective approach is required from police and the council, to address this.

The council therefore, today saw the need to equip police with basic office items like computers, to keep better road accident statistics and other records.

He said the council was happy to work with police in the area of road safety, and will continue to assist in the years to come.

Central Provincial Police Commander, Laimo Asi, while thanking NRSC for the donation, said the donation will boost the work of Central Province Highway Patrol unit, and help them do their work efficiently.

In the meantime, the National Road Safety Council’s education and awareness team will travel the Magi Highway to promote road safety messages.

This is part of the council’s plans to carry out a wider road safety campaign in the Central province, as many road accidents have been reported there.

The team will travel as far as the Aroma Coast to deliver vital road safety information.
