Boys Spent Three Weeks With Welfare Officers

One police arrest may just put an end to a seven year Welfare Drama.

It’s been three weeks since a nine year old boy and his step brother were removed from their father by welfare officers in Port Moresby.

This comes after the former partner of the nine year old boy’s biological father Captain Fred Martens falsified information on the entry of the Australian Captain into PNG.

The drama unfolded right outside EMTV office three weeks ago when Captain Martens came to enquire for an interview.

He was then escorted by Police Officers to Boroko Police Station for questioning and if the police were not satisfied with his answers then, he would be arrested and charged.

The Captain was released moMen’s later when he presented all necessary travel docuMen’s including his pilot licence.

Last week, about five attempts taken by Boroko Police Officers to arrest the former partner Miti Katu were unsuccessful.

Despite police’Orders requesting Miti to turn herself in for questioning, she failed to follow police directives.

But late last Friday, she was brought to the police station for questioning.

According to Captain Martens, a formal arrest on Miti  could not be made then because the police officers did not complete their stateMen’s.

The former partner will be charged with giving information to police knowing it to be false once the stateMen’s are completed.
