People living in Port Moresby’s six mile Bodiam settlement now have access to clean fresh water after years of negligence.
North East MP, Labi Amaiu and Eda Ranu Chief Executive, Henry Mokono, were onsite to commission the water taps today.
Local MP, Labi Amaiu who once lived around the same area, called on the community leaders to put on their thinking caps, and bring about change in the community.
Mr Amaiu also told the people to control their population has it takes time to plan and bring services to the people.
Local settlers were overwhelmed with the service and say they have suffered enough.
Community leaders commended MP Amaiu and service provider Eda Ranu for the partnership in delivering this service.
The water system will also spread to other nearby communities as a Southern Cross tank will be installed on the hilltops of the settlement.
A two month grace period was given for free water usage then settlers will pay monthly fees to Eda Ranu.
